Several years ago, I visited the World War II Memorial in Washington, D.C. It was the Opening Day and one could tell that many people waited anxiously to visit the site even when the final touches were still being applied.Of all the memorials in D.C. I consider this one my favorite (aside from the Lincoln Memorial). Coincidentally, that year was the 'year of the 17-year locusts, or cicadas'. Of course, I collected serveral 'samples' of the little critters just for keepsakes! So, enjoy these images, and, when you get a chance, go visit the memorials in D.C.
